Star Wars actor John Boyega got his start in a little-known gem of a sci-fi film called Attack the Block. Soon, we may see him reunite with director Joe Cornish.

Before he was Finn in Star Wars, John Boyega was a hard-edged (but soft-hearted) gang leader in South London, whose criminal activities were interrupted by an alien invasion, which forced the neighborhood to come together to stay alive.

Attack the Block, written and directed by Joe Cornish, was basically ‘thugs vs. aliens,’ and we loved every second of it.

With John Boyega making a name for himself, it’s nice to see this movie get the attention it deserves — and it looks like we can expect even more good stuff from Cornish and Boyega, if this teasing tweet is anything to go by:

Of course, we don’t know if it’s an Attack the Block sequel or something totally different, but we’re guessing the #somethingnew hashtag indicates the latter.

We can’t wait to see what Joe Cornish comes up with! The genius storyteller also worked on the Ant-Man script, and wrote The Adventures of Tintin.

John Boyega has several intriguing projects lined up aside from Star Wars: Episode VIII. He’ll be starring in and producing the Pacific Rim sequel, and later this year you can see him in the star-studded thriller The Circle, which also stars Emma Watson, Karen Gillan, Tom Hanks, and Bill Paxton.

Meanwhile, this is a good excuse to tell you to watch Attack the Block if you haven’t yet. The 2011 movie also stars Jodie Whittaker, Alex Esmail, Leeon Jones, Franz Drameh, Simon Howard, and Paige Meade.

Here’s the trailer, to hopefully entice you even further. Enjoy!
