The highly anticipated biopic of Steve Jobs, Jobs, starring Ashton Kutcher was supposed to hit theaters in April – but has been pushed back for marketing purposes.

Jobs was originally supposed to hit the big screen on April 19, on the 37th anniversary of founding the Apple Computer. However, Open Road Films is now pushing back the release date indefinitely to allow more time for marketing.

Jobs is directed by Joshua Michael Stern (Swing Vote) and written by newcomer Matthew Whitely, and it premiered in January at the Sundance Film Festival. The movie chronicles a long span of the Apple founder’s life, from dropping out of college to becoming one of the most successful businessmen in the 20th Century.

Kutcher looks eerily similar to Steve Jobs, as we’ve seen through some stills that have been released, along with a video clip. The film also stars Dermot Mulroney, Josh Gad, Lukas Haas, J.K. Simmons and Matthew Modine.

Gad (playing Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak) told USA Today how “eerie” it was to see Kutcher playing Jobs on the set:

“There is an eerie resemblance — he didn’t have to do much to get there. When he showed up, it sent a ripple of shock throughout the set. Everyone was like, ‘We’re in the presence of Jobs. Let’s go do this.’ It was literally like being in the room with the creator of Apple. This is one of those roles that’s the perfect fit.”

Jobs is not to be confused with the Sony Pictures’ biopic of Jobs, which is based off of Watler Isaacson’s biography of Jobs, Steve JobsAaron Sorkin is adapting Sony’s screenplay.

Thanks, THR.
