It’s been a busy couple of months for The Casual Vacancy author J.K. Rowling. Her final event (as far as we know) to promote her new book was held yesterday at the Lennoxlove Book Festival in her home town of Edinburgh.

In the Q&A, The Scotsman reports that Rowling credited her husband approving of the story idea before she started it. “It is the mark of either how much my husband loves me or how right I was to marry that man, but he was the only person who, when I told him my idea, said: ‘Yes, that sounds good.'”

She went on to reveal that her favorite character to write in the book was Fats Wall. When asked how she responds to criticism of the book Rowling replied, “But it’s not like Hogwarts,” she insisted. “It’s not a great battle between good and evil. There’s no easy answers, no
solutions, just so many shades
of grey.”

Was that a Fifty Shades of Grey reference? Anyway, check out photos of Rowling at the event below. The Casual Vacancy is currently available worldwide.

The latest sales numbers indicate that The Casual Vacancy sold over one million new books, but didn’t stay too long at the top of several best seller lists.

With publicity for J.K. Rowling’s new book out of the way, hopefully now it’s time to move on to her next project! In interviews she’s stated the next book she’ll likely release is one for children around ages six and seven.
