For the third year in a row, J.K. Rowling has apologized for killing a Harry Potter character on the Battle of Hogwarts anniversary.

This morning, Rowling said sorry for killing good ol’ Severus Snape, the man who was in love with Lily Potter and gave Harry hell as a Potions teacher at Hogwarts. In his later years we learned of his loyalty to Dumbledore, culminating in the ultimate moment: Snape killing his friend for the Greater Good.

Snape’s death was one of the most tragic in the series, so this apology is particularly special. Unfortunately, Rowling’s apology came without any sort of background or bonus information, as she offered last year during her Remus Lupin apology.

In Year 1, Rowling apologized for killing Fred.

Who would like to see her apologize for next year? Or are you sick of this thing.
