JJ Abrams isn’t spilling any Star Wars secrets, but he has released a new trailer for a mysterious project from his company, Bad Robot.

Abrams released a short teaser trailer to Entertainment Weekly this afternoon with very little detail, except for a possible title –Stranger.

The teaser, filmed all in black and white, features a cryptic voice-over and leaves plenty to the imagination.

Check out the teaser trailer for Abrams’ new project:

After seeing that, we are mostly puzzled, a bit scared, but definitely intrigued.

The clip ends with the written words, “Soon he will know.” We can only hope that idea also applies to us.

This footage definitely has a more sinister tone than we’re used to seeing from Abrams, who has been busy working on the next installment of the Star Wars saga.

Bad Robot currently has multiple projects in production, including follow-ups to Cloverfield and the Star Trek films. It is unclear which project this particular clip is attached to.

There has not been any significant lead-up to this trailer giving us a clue as to whether it is a film or television project (probably since we’ve been thoroughly distracted by the lack of Star Wars information).

Abrams and the upcoming Star Wars Episode VII production were very noticeably absent from the D23 Expo last weekend, leaving fans disappointed in the lack of new information about the project.

We will keep our eyes and ears open for any updates about Stranger, which will hopefully come with a Star Wars update as well.

In the meantime, what theories do you have?
