Yesterday images of the Millennium Falcon being reconstructed for Star Wars: Episode VII were leaked, and today J.J. Abrams has confirmed it.

Given that J.J Abrams is known for his secrecy (he’s known for his “mystery box”) and that Star Wars: Episode VII is the biggest project he’s ever worked on, we have to imagine that he isn’t happy that photos have begun to leak out from the set.

Today in response, Abrams coyly tweeted this from his production house Bad Robot’s twitter account:

To us, this tweet appears to be Abrams voicing his frustration that images are being leaked in a way that doesn’t seem hostile. It also allowed him to acknowledge the fact that they are indeed rebuilding the Millennium Falcon for Episode VII. He doesn’t outright say it, but the image itself tells the story. The image of course is of the Dejarik board located inside the Millennium Falcon that Chewbacca and C-3PO were playing in the original Star Wars. Here’s an image to refresh your memory:

Given Abrams’ history of secrecy, we really do think that this is just a response to the leaks, but there is always the potential that the leaks are happening on purpose. None of the leaks are that spoilery (or so we assume), so it’s possible that Abrams and the Episode VII crew are having images leaked as to create buzz surrounding the movie. Keeping people talking is always a good thing, but given how huge Star Wars: Episode VII is guaranteed to be, it’s certainly not necessary.
