See George Clooney, Emily Blunt, Oscar Isaac and more read mean tweets about themselves on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

One of Jimmy Kimmel’s most popular segments is the Mean Tweets, where he brings stars together to read aloud mean tweets about themselves (and gives them a chance to respond).

While we don’t really condone validating these people’s hateful messages by reading them out on TV (and ensuring that their recipients get the message), it’s probably a good thing to be reminded of just how much vitriol is spewed at these celebrities on a daily basis.

In anticipation of this weekend’s Academy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles, here’s a Mean Tweets segment featuring huge A-list stars:

In order of appearance we have Christoph Waltz, Patricia Arquette, George Clooney, Jessica Chastain, Eddie Redmayne, Susan Sarandon, Kevin Costner, Emily Blunt, Zach Galifianakis, Kevin Hart, Richard Dreyfuss, Kate Blanchtt, Seth Rogen, Oscar Isaac, Taraji P. Henson, and Sean Penn.

Some of the mean tweets are definitely meaner than others (we thought the one for Jessica Chastain was a little bit cute), but luckily these stars have enough money between them to buy Twitter and probably shut down the whole Internet if they wanted to, so they’re okay.

Still, that’s no excuse to be a jerk online. Be nice to people!

The Oscars air this Sunday, with Chris Rock as host. The ceremony starts at 8.30 pm EST on ABC! Will you be tuning in?
