About ‘The Trouble with Mistletoe’

If she has her way…

Willa Davis is wrangling puppies when Keane Winters stalks into her pet shop with frustration in his chocolate-brown eyes and a pink bedazzled cat carrier in his hand. He needs a kitty sitter, stat. But the last thing Willa needs is to rescue a guy who doesn’t even remember her…

…He’ll get nothing but coal in his stocking.

Saddled with his great-aunt’s Feline from Hell, Keane is desperate to leave her in someone else’s capable hands. But in spite of the fact that he’s sure he’s never seen the drop-dead gorgeous pet shop owner before, she seems to be mad at him…

Unless he tempers “naughty” with a special kind of nice…

Willa can’t deny that Keane’s changed since high school: he’s less arrogant, for one thing — but he doesn’t even remember her. How can she trust him not to break her heart again? It’s time to throw a coin in the fountain, make a Christmas wish — and let the mistletoe do its work…

Describe your novel in 5 words

Sexy, funny, poignant, animals!, and did I say sexy?

‘The Trouble with Mistletoe’ is the second of the Heartbreaker Bay series. I love the urban setting, which is very different from your previous series, Lucky Harbor. Why did you change it up and what made you choose San Francisco?

SF is one of my very favorite cities in the world and not just because of Ghirardelli Chocolates… I loved the idea of setting a series in a hundred year old building in Cow Hollow because that gave me a sense of small town community within an urban setting. Love!

All of your novels have great secondary characters, whether it is Lucille and her blue-haired posse or Eddie. How do you come with the characters?

Well, let’s just say that I love to people watch and I collect characters in my head, saving them and bringing them out when I need. And here’s a little secret… Lucy was modeled after my beloved grandma and maybe she’s a little bit how I see myself as an old lady.

Can you tell us anything about Elle and Archer’s book, ‘Accidentally on Purpose’? (I am so excited for their story!)

I think Archer and Elle might be one of my fave couples of all time. Let’s just say that they have a past that they’ve hidden from the gang… and it’s a biggee. You’ll see in January.

What are you working on now?

Accidentally On Purpose! Putting the finishing touches on that and also starting something new for summer 2017 called Lost And Found Sisters…

Fill in the blank:

If I weren’t a writer I would be a rock star (except I can’t sing)
If I could have one supernatural power it would be to transport myself wherever I wanna go — which would be a deserted island beach that I could pop in and out of when I need to get away!
My Hollywood crush/book boyfriend is All the Chrises. Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Chris Pratt, Chris Pine.
