Jessica Jones and Daredevil took to the stage at New York Comic Con to give fans a sneak peek at the upcoming seasons of both shows.

Marvel fans have been eagerly anticipating their first look at the cast of Jessica Jones, and they weren’t disappointed when they made their first official appearance at New York Comic Con. They took to the stage to talk about the upcoming Netflix show, and to treat fans to the first episode.

‘Jessica Jones’

Before Jeph Loeb showed the first episode of Jessica Jones the cast took the stage and we learned more about who Carrie Anne Moss will be playing as well as the role of Hope played by Erin Moriarty, although we can’t say much about Hope because it would lead to major spoilers.

Carrie Anne Moss is playing Jerri Hogarth. In the comic the character was male but creators decided they had to have Carrie for the role. Hogarth is the executor of Wendell Rand’s estate and is responsible for finding Rand’s son Danny who also happens to be Iron Fist.

The story of Jessica Jones can’t be told without introducing Luke Cage, so unlike other Marvel TV, part of Luke’s story will be told within Jessica Jones. Mike Colter says the scenes with Luke and Jessica are real and grounded.

Missing from the panel was David Tennant who is currently in a play in London. A brief video of Tennant was shown saying how excited he was fans to see the show. Krysten Ritter was very complimentary of her missing co-stars, “David Tennant is magic. His range is incredible and he is one of the best scene partners I could ask for.”

‘Daredevil’ season 2

The first look of Marvel’s Daredevil season 2 gives a glimpse of Electra and the Punisher. The suit from the end of season 1 sees action in the teaser. Fans were definitely excited to see the Punisher, the crowd went wild when Jon Bernthal crossed the stage.

Throughout the panel the cast was tight lipped about the future plot lines but the showrunners talked about feeling responsible to create strong, gritty television that is dark and emotional. The fans responded well to the first season, so for the second season they brought in the Punisher and Electra. Lastly, Deborah Ann Woll hinted that we might see more of Karen and Matt’s romance.

When discussing her role as Electra, Elodie Yung says it is intense and exciting. In real life she is a black belt in karate. When Jeph Loeb asked her if she could really do karate she responded, “Yes, I could kick your ass.”

Jon Bernthal says he gets stopped several times a day by fans telling him not to mess up. Bernthal went on to say, “I feel a great responsibility and it is an honor to play the Punisher. I give my absolute word that I am giving the character everything I have.” In the trailer we hear the Punisher say his first line, “Beg.”
