Jennifer Lawrence has found a new project. The Academy Award winning actress will star in The Rules of Inheritance.

According to Deadline, Jennifer Lawrence will again be teaming up with director Susanne Bier for The Rules of Inheritance. Bier directed Lawrence in the not yet released depression era film, Serena. The Rules of Inheritance will be written by Abi Morgan. Morgan previously wrote The Iron Lady and Shame, among other things.

For the first time, Jennifer Lawrence will also be taking a role other than just acting. Along with Bruce Cohen, Lawrence will get her first producing credit. It’s no surprise that after winning her first Oscar that she’ll want to have more of a creative hand in the movies she makes. She’s certainly earned it.

The Rule of Inheritance will be based off of Claire Bidwell Smith’s memoir of the same name “about a young woman who loses her family but finds herself in the process.”

Here’s the book’s synopsis on Amazon:

Claire Bidwell Smith, an only child, is just fourteen years old when both of her charismatic parents are diagnosed with cancer. What follows is a coming-of-age story that is both heartbreaking and exhilarating. As Claire hurtles towards loss she throws herself at anything she thinks might help her cope with the weight of this harsh reality: boys, alcohol, traveling, and the anonymity of cities like New York and Los Angeles. By the time she is twenty-five years old they are both gone and Claire is very much alone in the world.

Claire’s story is less of a tragic tale and more of a remarkable lesson on how to overcome some of life’s greatest hardships. Written with suspense and style, and bursting with love and adventure, The Rules of Inheritance vividly captures the deep grief and surprising light of a young woman forging ahead on a journey of loss that humbled, strengthened, and ultimately healed her.

As she has shown with multiple Oscar nominations and a win, Jennifer Lawrence can act, and this role in particular sounds like something that is suited very well towards her. Jennifer Lawrence should be able to play the alone-in-this-world Claire Bidwell Smith very well.
