In a new interview with Digital Spy, Katniss actress Jennifer Lawrence offers some teases into how filming on The Hunger Games: Mockingjay has been going so far.

The cast and crew began shooting the two-part Mockingjay in October, but they are on hiatus this month while they promote Catching Fire.

Being the lead actress in the film, Lawrence already has a great deal of scenes under her belt. “I think my favourite scene that we’ve shot so far is when I get upset after the Capitol just bombed District 13 and I’m hiding in the air vent and Haymitch comes and talks to me,” she says. “I don’t know if that was just ’cause I got to hang out in an air vent with Woody and that was fun.”

Digital Spy also spoke to director Francis Lawrence who discussed the advantages of turning one book into two movies. “The good thing is that by splitting it in two, you actually will get more of the book in the movie. Because you have a little more time for each part. There’s also a little room for some surprises and some little additions and things which is kind of nice.”

He also noted that the movies will be shorter than Catching Fire which clocked in at 2 1/2 hours. “They’ll be slightly shorter than Catching Fire. Catching Fire is one movie trying to, you know, get as much of the 400 page book in. So it gives us more freedom by splitting it in to two.”

Mockingjay parts 1 and 2 hit theaters November 2014 and November 2015 respectively. Catching Fire opened last weekend and set a November box office record.
