The first trailer for Jennifer Lawrence’s new spy drama, Red Sparrow released, and it shows Lawrence as we’ve never seen her before.
In Red Sparrow, Lawrence plays Dominika Egorova, a Russian prima ballerina who suffers a career-ending injury that forces her and her mother to face a bleak future. When she’s recruited by a covert espionage organization called “Sparrow School”, she has no choice but to agree.
After a brutal training, Egorova becomes the most effective, lethal Sparrow to come from the school. She must reconcile her new life with who she once was, while also protecting those who mean the most to her–including an American CIA agent who says she can only trust him. In addition to the trailer, Red Sparrow has also released its first poster, which features Jennifer Lawrence looking incredibly fierce.
Red Sparrow also stars Joel Egerton, Matthias Schoenaerts, Charlotte Rampling, Mary-Louise Parker and Jeremy Irons, and is based on the book by Jason Matthews. With a star cast and Jennifer Lawrence kicking ass in a role unlike any we’ve seen her in before, this movie is getting us more hyped by the day.
The film hits theaters on March 2, so thankfully, we don’t have to wait too long to see the movie for ourselves. If the trailer is any indication, Red Sparrow is going to be one you just can’t miss.
