Jennifer Lawrence has been tapped to appear in David O. Russell’s upcoming Abscam film, which also stars her Silver Linings Playbook co-star Bradley Cooper.
The film, formally titled American Bullshit, is a drama about a 1970s FBI sting known as Abscam that took down several U.S. congressmen. According to Deadline, Lawrence will play Christian Bale’s wife in the film, which was written by Russell and Eric Singer. Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner will also appear in the film.
This is certainly a good sign, as Silver Linings Playbook garnered Oscar nominations for Lawrence, Cooper and Russell, and when you add in the talents of Bale, Adams and Renner, this could be something truly special. The question now is how Bale and Lawrence will play opposite each other, although there was a similar age gap with Cooper in Silver Linings Playbook and that worked wonderfully.
We’ll be sure to keep a close eye on the ensemble production as it nears production, which is reportedly scheduled for this spring.
Megan Ellison and her Annapurna Pictures will be fully financing the project, which will be produced by Charles Roven and Richard Suckle through Sony Pictures.
