In a new interview with Empire Magazine, Jennifer Lawrence discusses Catching Fire’s new director and one qualm with playing Katniss.

Lawrence has high praise for Francis Lawrence (no relation) who replaced Gary Ross following scheduling conflicts. “I was consulted about who the new director would be,” she revealed. “But I’m not delusional. I’m sure that if I’d said I absolutely hated Francis they’d have hired him anyway. Fortunately I think Francis is the smartest decision any studio has ever made.”

The lead actress who plays Katniss was also asked if she gets bored of playing the character for any particular reason. “I still love playing Katniss and am really looking forward to being her again. There’s honestly no part of it that I’m bored with… Actually thats not true. I am so bored with her braid. I keep asking, ‘Can’t I just wear my hair differently?’ But they keep saying no.”

Director Lawrence was also interviewed for the article. Empire notes that of the footage they got to view, the movie felt like it had “a chillier, bleaker beauty than Ross’ which bursts with springy greens. It also looks bigger, with desolate landscapes stretching into nothingness.”

Said the helmer, “I thought there was a real opportunity to open up the world. I didn’t get enough of a sense of place in the first movie. I thought we could grow visually because we were seeing more of the Districts, the Capitol and the whole arena.”

The interview was conducted to promote Catching Fire which hits theaters November 22. Despite the film still being far from release, the cast and crew are already back together to film the final two movies, Mockingjay, Part 1 and Mockingjay, Part 2.
