Our weekend hypothesis has been confirmed as true: The Hunger Games: Catching Fire film is indeed underway in Hawaii, and these two photos from the set depict Jennifer Lawrence in action.

The scene appears to depict Lawrence, who plays lead character Katniss, at the very start of the Quarter Quell when she has to swim to shore. A second photo depicts a wide shot of the beach they’re using to film on a mostly cloudy day.

UPDATE: A third photo has surfaced, this time from a different Twitter user. It’s hard to tell which actor/actress is in this scene…

The photos were snapped by this Twitter user who appears to be simply visiting Hawaii and happened to encounter the set.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire had been filming in Atlanta, Georgia up until earlier this month. The cast and crew moved to Hawaii to film the Quarter Quell, and production is scheduled to wrap by the end of December.

The highly anticipated Hunger Games sequel opens in theaters November 22, 2013. Francis Lawrence is directing. Last week Lionsgate released the film’s animated logo, which starts as The Hunger Games logo and morphs into Catching Fire‘s as seen on Suzanne Collins’ book.

We’ll continue to keep an eye out for more Catching Fire Hawaii filming photos and pass them along to you if they surface! Given that they’re filming in what appears to be at least one public area, we suspect many more photos will come online in the next few weeks.
