Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper filmed Serena before they filmed American Hustle, but that doesn’t mean you’ll see it sooner.

According to the December 6 magazine issue of The Hollywood Reporter which is now online, Serena, yet another film pairing Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper, is headed to screens to play for distributers in late November. This was apparently shrouded in secrecy, but sources close to THR say that is what the Creative Artists Agency will be doing.

It has taken a long while for Serena to be ready for distribution as it is now. Lawrence and Cooper shot the film right after they shot Silver Linings Playbook, and around the same time that The Hunger Games was entering theaters.

It took director Susanne Bier a long time to get Serena where it is today, but according to insiders, that’s not a big deal like one would think. This can often mean that there was trouble, but it was just a long editing process.

“There were no reshoots or anything like that,” one insider said. “It was just a real precision edit because the story is about a woman’s descent into madness. And Susanne is a total perfectionist.”

Like star Lawrence, Bier is an Oscar winner. Her film In a Better World won best foreign-language film in 2011. The fact that Lawrence won an Academy Award for best actress in between the shooting of Serena and the pitch for distribution must have left Bier ecstatic.

Lawrence and Cooper will be teaming up yet again this December for American Hustle, a film directed by their Silver Linings Playbook helmer David O. Russell. The film also stars Christian Bale, Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner, Louis C.K., Robert De Niro, Alessandro Nivola, Elisabeth Rohm, Dawn Olivieri, Jack Huston, and Michael Pena.

The first official American Hustle clip was released earlier this month. It featured Lawrence’s character blowing up a microwave.
