Jennifer Connelly will return to TV in TNT’s Snowpiercer pilot, alongside Hamilton star Daveed Diggs.

Snowpiercer tells the story of a futuristic world in which the Earth’s surface is mostly frozen wasteland. Humanity has survived, and continues to by inhabiting a train that circles the globe in a continuous loop. It’s not hard to imagine the litany of issues and struggles that would rear their ugly heads in a situation like that.

Deadline reports that Connelly will play Melanie Cavill, a first class passenger who spends her days making announcements over the PA system. While her peers remain arrogant and snobbish toward the lower class, Cavill finds them fascinating.

The pilot will be directed by Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson, and co-stars Daveed Diggs of Hamilton fame as Layton Well, a prisoner who finds himself in a tough situation. Josh Friedman will serve as showrunner.

Snowpiercer was first adapted for film in 2013, starring Chris Evans and directed by Bong Joon Ho, who will serve as an executive producer alongside Park Chan-wook, Lee Tae-hun and Dooho Choi, who also worked on the 2013 film, as well as Tomorrow Studios’ Adelstein and Becky Clements.
