Despite her campaigning, Jennifer Aniston did not receive an Oscar nomination for her role in Cake.

Former Friends star Jennifer Aniston (45) was hoping that her role in Cake would finally land her an Academy Award nomination.

In the gritty drama, Aniston steps away from the rom-com genre to portray a mentally ill woman who becomes fascinated with the details of her friend’s suicide, as she suffers to cope with a personal tragedy.

But yesterday’s Oscar nominations did not feature Aniston on the Best Actress list (nominees this year are Marion Cotillard, Felicity Jones, Julianne Moore, Rosamund Pike and Reese Witherspoon).

Appearing at the Critics’ Choice Awards ceremony last night (where Aniston was nominated for Best Actress in a Drama, but lost to Julianne Moore), Aniston told Access Hollywood how she feels about the snub:

“I’d be lying if I said there wasn’t a little, like, ‘ohh,'” Aniston admits. “But then, after that … look at tonight, look at the [Golden] Globes, look at the SAG,” she says, referencing the awards shows that have offered nods to Cake so far.

“We’re in an embarrassment of wonderful riches,” Aniston says. “[It’s] a movie that hasn’t even been released, it’s teensy-tiny, and this is just all kind of cherries on top of something that was really special to us. So we’re really excited.”

Aniston also alluded to the tight bond that exists between some of these powerful women in Hollywood, saying that both Reese Witherspoon and Julianne Moore sent her “sweet” messages when they found out she wasn’t among this year’s Oscar nominees.

She graciously concludes, “we’re all rooting for each other, and this doesn’t take away the work that was done. And we still have all of this together, so it’s really, really nice.”
