Jenna-Louise Coleman has shed any lingering doubt about her continuing with the Doctor Who franchise. She is in for series 8.

Earlier this year, speculation abounded that Jenna-Louise Coleman might not participate beyond the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special. When Coleman’s name was found on a leaked Strictly Come Dancing wish list, some assumed that her Doctor Who appearance would be a limited one.

Coleman was predictably tight lipped about what to expect when the second half of series 7 starts later this month; however, Coleman cleared up the departure rumors yesterday stating to BBC’s Radio 5, “I think I can say that? I can say I will be in season 8.”

Later on, when asked about the Doctor and Clara Oswald relationship, Coleman sated.

It’s not as straightforward as them being great friends who go on this adventure – there’s so much subtext of them both trying to figure each other out. I have the idea they’re magnetically drawn to each other.

Matt Smith has also had quite an influence on Coleman. He encouraged her to watch Spencer Tracey and Katherine Hepburn movies and the Indiana Jones movies.

You can hear the interview for yourself below. What’s also notable in the interview is Coleman’s pronounced Northern accent, as she hails from Blackpool. In the series, she has used more of a “posh accent” when playing the governess, and more of a standard English accent, similar to the one used by David Tennant, when she played Oswin Oswald and the barmaid Clara. She is also joined by Marcus Wilson, producer, in the interview.
