An adaptation of former FBI Director James Comey’s book is getting the movie treatment — and the project has found its leading men in Jeff Daniels and Brendan Gleeson.

Former FBI Director James Comey’s book, A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies and Leadership, will be the subject of a brand new mini series hailing from CBS Studios.

The forthcoming series, which is currently without a title, will tackle Comey’s best-selling book over the course of four hours.

According to Variety, actors Jeff Daniels and Brendan Gleeson have both signed on to star in the untitled project.

Daniels, who was last seen on the big screen in Guest Artist (February 2019), will play Comey himself. Meanwhile, Gleeson (The Ballad of Buster Scruggs) has been tapped to portray President Donald Trump.

Gleeson and Daniels join previously-announced cast members Michael Kelly (Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan TV series) and Jennifer Ehle (Zero Dark Thirty).

They’ll be portraying Acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe and Comey’s wife, Patrice, respectively.

Behind the camera, Captain Philips screenwriter Billy Ray will serve as the mini series’ director. In addition to helming the project, Ray has also adapted the book for the small screen.

In a statement announcing both actors’ involvement with the project, Ray revealed that he knew Daniels was the perfect man for the job when he spoke with him after seeing the actor in To Kill A Mockingbird on Broadway.

“Jeff is so perfect for this part. Great actor, instant integrity, loads of warmth, intelligence, complexity and gravitas,” said Ray. “We talked backstage after I saw him in ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ on Broadway, and I knew I was looking at the only person who could play Jim Comey. Lucky for me, he said yes.”

Speaking of Gleeson, Ray said: “It’s hard to imagine a bigger acting challenge than playing Donald Trump. You have to have presence, and a singular kind of dynamism. You also have to have the courage and the will to play Trump’s psychology from the inside out. Oh, and you have to be spectacularly talented and watchable. Not many actors check all those boxes. Brendan does. I’m ecstatic about this.”

Production on the mini series is set to start in November, though it is still unclear as to whether it’ll air on Showtime or CBS Access.
