Saturday Night Live cast member Jason Sueikis is officially leaving the show, he confirmed last night on David Letterman’s talk show.

“I’m definitely done. I’m going to leave. I’m not coming back,” he said to Letterman.

Sueikis admitted that it’ll be hard to not return to the show when they resume production later this year. He said that when sketches start churning in his head in August, instead of using them for Saturday Night Live he’ll try to turn them into a 90-minute movie.

Rumors surrounding Sudeikis’ departure from the show surfaced late last year, but at the time reports said that he would leave midseason following the November 2012 Presidential election (because he was playing Republican nominee Mitt Romney in sketches).

This past May, the actor said he “sincerely didn’t know” whether or not he was leaving.

Saturday Night Live said goodbye to several cast members at the end of the most recent season. Fred Armisen and Bill Hader both left, too. Hader’s Stefon character received a particularly excellent send off in the season finale.

With these three cast members now gone, producer Lorne Michaels and his team are going to have some big shoes to fill. The show is still suffering from other recent losses like Kristen Wiig. NBC’s iconic sketch show returns this September.
