Jason Bateman is potentially taking his directing talents to the big screen with a live-action adaptation of the popular board game Clue.

Jason Bateman delighted fans, viewers and creators of reactions gifs worldwide on Sunday when he won the Emmy for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series for his work on Netflix’s Ozark.

Now, the newly crowned best director may be taking his talents from the small screen to the big screen.

Deadline reported earlier today that Batemen is in early talks to direct the Twentieth Century Fox/Disney live-action adaptation of the board game Clue.

Jason Bateman was already set to star in the film, alongside previously announced lead actor Ryan Reynolds, who will also be producing the film.

The film comes from Ryan Reynolds three-year first-look deal with Twentieth Century Fox Film that was announced earlier last year, after the major success of both Deadpool movies.

Initially, Fox had appointed Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who wrote the first Deadpool film, to write the script for Clue. However, it is now being reported that Jason Batemen will develop the script for Clue alongside Ryan Reynolds

Though we don’t know much about the film currently, it’s been confirmed that the upcoming adaptation won’t be a remake of the first Clue movie which starred Eileen Brennan, Tim Curry, Madeline Kahn, Christopher Lloyd, Michael McKean, Martin Mull and Lesley Ann Warren. Though that 1985 film that was considered a critical and financial flop at the time, it is now a beloved fan favorite and cult classic.

Instead, the new film from Ryan Reynolds — and hopefully directed by Jason Bateman — has been described as one which will be “based on the mythology of the venerable board game.”

Though Clue was announced early last year, we still don’t know when it will come out. Seeing as Bateman just began production today on the new season of Ozark — in which he will directed two episodes — it seems likely that we’re still a ways out.
