Jared Leto movies

Jared Leto played 2nd Lt. Whyte in The Thin Red Line, but had a fairly small role in a film which starred an ensemble cast including Sean Penn, Jim Caviezel, Nick Nolte, George Clooney, Adrien Brody, Woody Harrelson, John Cusack, John Travolta, and John C. Reilly. But he puts in another stellar performance in the WWII movie, and if you haven’t seen this incredible movie yet, Leto being in it is just a icing on the cake.

One of the most iconic films of the late ’90s, Fight Club was a game changer in the film industry. Starring a young Brad Pitt and Ed Norton, Jared Leto ended up having a key role in the film. He plays Angel Face, who is a bleached-blonde hair recruit which gets his face smashed in by Ed Norton during one fight. His performance is riveting, and with the blonde hair he looks a bit like he’ll look as the Joker in Suicide Squad.

Jared Leto finally gets his break in American Psycho, as the fast-talking Paul Allen, who can never seem to get Christian Bale’s character’s name right (which pisses Bale off to no end). He plays a total asshole in the film, and he plays it perfectly. The movie is one fans just can’t miss, and his performance is only outdone by the always brilliant Christian Bale.

If you ever wanted to watch a movie that would keep you from doing drugs, Requiem for a Dream by Darren Aronofsky is the one to watch. Jared Leto plays a opportunistic heroin addict, who finds out how far down the rabbit hole one can fall. Leto’s performance will convince anyone who sees it to never touch a needle.

In one of his more hilarious roles, Leto plays a small-time thief in Panic Room. He, along with Forest Whitaker, and Dwight Yoakam break into Jodie Foster and a young Kristen Stewart’s house, where they try to steal millions sealed in a panic room. He gets injured multiple times, and his performance as a low level criminal with cornrows is very memorable.

While Alexander bombed at the box office, and rightfully so, despite its cast which included Colin Farrell, Anthony Hopkins, and Angelina Jolie, Leto actually put in a solid performance as a Alexander’s very close friend and comrade Hephaistion. The two characters reportedly had a romantic relationship, and he’ll bring you to tears as he watches his king (and lover) fall deeper into his own vices.

A film that often gets overlooked, despite being very interesting, Leto plays the younger brother to Nicolas Cage who is an illegal gun smuggler in Lord of War. Jared plays the young brother who doesn’t care about the money and power, and his fragility causes tension between him and his older brother, who he would die for. Lord of War is an excellent film, which is based on true events of illegal arms dealing around the world.

In Chapter 27, Leto plays Mark David Chapman, the man who murdered legendary Beatles member John Lennon. While the film was seen as a failure, Leto’s transformation into this bizarre, sick man is anything but. While you wait for that one big moment on screen, Leto disappears behind a face even the biggest fan wouldn’t recognize, and he’ll remind you why he’s one of the best actors in Hollywood right now.

This visually stunning film is worth watching even if you’re not a fan of Leto, and while the insanity that is Mr. Nobody is sometimes difficult to follow, he puts in another solid performance as he plays 118-year-old man who is the last mortal on Earth after humans have achieved a sort of immortality. Leto plays his character at different ages of his life, and if you can keep up, it’s worth keeping an eye on his unique performance.

If you haven’t seen Dallas Buyers Club yet, you’re missing out on Leto’s best performance to date. He completely transforms into the multi-dimensional transvestite battling AIDS who’s known as Rayon. He compliments Matthew McConaughey’s tough-guy persona in the film, and one scene when Rayon goes to his father for help is heartbreaking, and is almost certainly what won him the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor.

Jared Leto’s movie Suicide Squad has him co-starring with some of Hollywood’s best and brightest. He plays the Joker opposite Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Cara Delevingne, and Tom Hardy.

The actor is no longer the outsider in a film, despite the starstudded cast, as he’s technically the biggest name in Suicide Squad as he comes off his Oscar win for his portrayal of Rayon in 2013’s Dallas Buyers Club.

Leto impressed everyone with his impeccable performance as Matthew McConaughey’s transgendered sidekick in the award-winning film, and we wager he’ll continue transforming himself into new characters we would never have expected, allowing himself to be cast in many different film genres in the future.
