Jane the Virgin season 1, episode 14 was a fairly straightforward episode, at least more than usual for the show. Read on for the full recap.

Lately Jane the Virgin has been juggling so many different story lines that tonight’s episode seemed fairly simple. It was a nice break of pace. Let’s dig in!

The main storyline for tonight was dealing with the fallout of Rose, aka Sin Rostro, killing Emilio. It starts with Rafael and Jane finding out that Rose is the notorious drug dealer, not his father. The episode dealt with the main storyline by having Jane imagine most of the show as her dramatized telenovela, which lead to some hilarious moments like Michael and Rafael slapping each other at the beginning.

Upon the realization that Emilio is not Sin Rostro, Rafael realizes that he needs to get her out of the loony bin just as she plans her big escape. When she gets back to the hotel she finds a letter from Rose that leads her, Rafael, and Michael to the spot where she buried Emilio alive with concrete. Also while they are waiting to find out, Jane overhears a slightly suspicious conversation with Rafael and someone over the phone. Dealing with all of the news, she ends up knocking on a door that he puts a Do Not Disturb sign on. Who answers? It sure looks like Roman Zazo and she promptly runs into Michael who gets the info out of her.

They bring the information to Rafael who introduces them to Aaron, Roman’s twin. Poor Rafael explains that he reached out to find him after Roman died and he found out Andrew had been kidnapped by a drug cartel so he gave the ransom money. Rafael just can’t catch a break because he also is dealing with Petra announcing that she now owns a third of the hotel and has plans to make him a silent partner. Just when we were starting to like her.

Later, Michael is questioning Luisa about her relationship with Rose and we find out that they met five years ago. Luisa is devastated about that betrayal and then finding out that she killed her father. After the funeral the next day, Rafael tries to apologize but unfortunately for him Petra scheduled a board meeting an hour after the funeral. He really needs Luisa’s shares but she doesn’t take it very well and ends up secretly assigning her voting rights to Petra because she is angry at being put in the mental hospital.

Now I’m not 100% sure but I think they left it open for someone, hopefully Rafael, to eventually buy her shares. Right now, Rafael is devastated and then Michael tells him that Luisa has run away with Rose. He goes back to his room where Jane is waiting just as Petra meets her dead lover’s twin brother Aaron.

The B plot of the episode deals with Jane and Rafael and Xo and Rogelio still dealing with their true feelings for each other. Rogelio has to pick between getting his own show but in Mexico or taking second lead and joining his archenemy’s show that is failing in the ratings. Jane forces her parents to talk and Rogelio ends up picking Xo and their budding relationship and that is enough for Xo to give him her, ahem, heart and body once again.

Meanwhile, Jane’s friend is planning her a baby shower and with everything going on she is having a hard time fully trusting him with all the craziness going on. They also are dealing with the realities that they live separately. By the end of the episode they are closer than ever, thanks to Jane fully committing to him and telling him that she loves him. The next day he asks her to move in with him!
