Eli Roth’s Borderlands adaptation has found its newest cast member in Ariana Greenblatt.

Update (3/1/21): According to Deadline, actress Ariana Greenblatt has officially joined the cast of the upcoming adaptation of the hit Borderlands video game franchise.

Greenblatt (whose previous credits include Disney+’s The One and Only Ivan and Avengers: Infinity War) is set to take on the role of Tiny Tina in the big screen adaptation.

Those familiar with the Borderlands video game will likely know who Tiny Tina is. But for the uninitiated, she’s a teenage explosive experts who also happens to be out for revenge. Specifically, she’s got her eyes set on the man who sold her parents to the sinister Hyperion Company.

In a statement announcing the young star’s involvement with the movie, director Eli Roth spoke of how excited they are to have her on board.

“Ariana is a spectacular new talent in cinema,” said the director. “She has already worked with many of my close collaborators and everyone raves about her. She blew us all away in her audition, and I cannot wait to see her bring the wild, insane and unpredictable Tiny Tina to the big screen. She’s going to blow up on screen like one of Tina’s grenades.”

Greenblatt joins a star-studded cast which includes the likes of Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Jack Black.

Update (2/11/21): The upcoming adaptation of the Borderlands video game franchise has found its newest star in none other than Jack Black.

According to Variety, comedic actor Jack Black has signed on to lend his voice to the role of Claptrap in the upcoming action movie.

Fans of the video game will undoubtedly be all to familiar with the sarcastic robot in question. While Claptrap is bound to provide some comedic relief throughout the big screen adaptation, it doesn’t sound like he’ll be all too helpful when it comes to tracking down that highly-sought after vault.

The character description for the robot emphasizes that he’s “not all that invested in the survival of his teammates.”

Jack Black’s involvement with the Lionsgate feature marks the second time the actor has teamed up with director Eli Roth.

In addition to serving as helmer on Borderlands, Roth previously directed Black in The House with a Clock in Its Walls. The 2018 film in question also happened to star Cate Blanchett who was previously cast in the role of Lillith in Roth’s Borderlands adaptation.

“I am so excited to reunite with Jack, this time in the recording booth,” Roth said via a statement. “Claptrap is the funniest character in the game, and Jack is perfect to bring him to the big screen.”

Black is the latest Hollywood A-lister to join the cast of the adaptation. Others who are set to star opposite Black and Blanchett include Kevin Hart and Jamie Lee Curtis.

Curtis, specifically, was announced to be taking on the role of Tannis earlier this week.
