Once Upon a Time‘s Storybrooke flashback episode is coming up, and this means we’ll see Jamie Dornan reprise his role as the Sheriff!

The fan favourite character was killed off in season 1, but we all still miss him! The writers clearly know this, as they’ve brought him back for a much anticipated flashback episode that will show what happened after the characters first arrived in Storybrooke.

Speaking to Access Hollywood, Dornan previews his return, and what the episode is all about. “It’s day 1 of the curse,” he explains, “so it’s before anything was seen, in terms of in Storybrooke in season 1.”

One of the key things we’ll see in the episode is Graham and Regina’s relationship. “Basically we see her control from the very start of it, which is really quite interesting,” Dornan says. “Even watching it back, you just feel – I think you sort of always feel sorry for Graham, but I feel more sorry for him from the start because you see how controlled he is right from day 1 and there’s really not a lot he can do.”

While he can’t give a lot away about what his character will be doing in the episode, he does tease that, “there’s definitely ways and means that she has of controlling me and getting what she wants. Basically, he’s her puppet and he’s so clueless and helpless, which is sad. I think you feel for him.”

Lana Parrilla, meanwhile, can offer some insight into their destructive relationship from Regina’s perspective. Speaking to E! Online, she says, “I think there’s a cute flirtation between them. Regina is excited to have him back in her life.”

We’ll leave you with these encouraging words from Jamie Dornan about potentially returning in the future: “I’m definitely open to coming back. I love everyone involved in the show so it feels like coming home every time I do. So I’m definitely open to it, yeah.”

Let’s hope this won’t be the last time we’ll ever see Dornan in either incarnation of his character!

Once Upon a Time 2×17 “Welcome to Storybrooke” airs Sunday at 8/7c on ABC.
