The Doctor Who actor has reportedly revealed his plans to reunite with fellow star and writer Ruth Jones for a fourth series of the hit British comedy.

The Daily Mail quoted the One Man, Two Guvnors Thespian (who won a Tony for his performance in the play’s Broadway stint) as saying that the BBC sitcom is just “too good” not to return to screens.

Gavin and Stacey starred Matthew Horne and Joanna Page alongside Jones and Corden, and aired for a total of three series and one Christmas special. Corden’s character, Smithy, became so popular among audiences that he reprised the role for sketches with David Beckham, Gordon Brown, Rupert Grint and Tom Felton. The writers decided to stop the show in 2009, after believing that the narrative had reached a natural conclusion.

If The Mail is to be believed, the actor/writer admitted “it would be a crime not to [bring it back], it’s a great show. Writing with Ruth is a gift, I definitely plan on doing some more.” Ruth Jones has also expressed interest in returning to the popular sitcom, despite being busy with new comedy series Stella.

Would you like to see Gavin and Stacey back on television, or has the sitcom run its course?
