When Susan Sarandon appeared on The Late Late Show With James Corden to discuss her career, no one was expecting her to reprise her iconic Thelma & Louise role.

Thelma & Louise (1991) is irrefutably one of the most iconic action movies of all time.

Starring Susan Sarandon as Louise with Geena Davis as Thelma, we follow the unlikely pair (an Arkansan housewife and a waitress) as they flee across the country, after shooting and killing a man who attempted rape.

The best scene, arguably, is the ending, in which (…spoiler alert) Thelma and Louise find themselves on the edge of a cliff, surrounded by cops, and decide to drive off and end it all together.

They share a kiss and ride off into the sunset, uplifting music playing as we try to forget the fact that they’re plummeting to their deaths.

It’s a great ending. James Corden is about to do you one (or three) better.

With Susan Sarandon back in the driver’s seat as Louise, Corden dons a blond wig and takes on the role of Thelma, and the pair proceed to act out all our favorite fan fiction moments:

In the first “alternate ending,” the pair start bickering on the way down as Thelma tries to explain to Louise that she didn’t actually want them to drive off the cliff.

In the second ending, they land safely (we KNEW it! Don’t tell us it ends otherwise), and proceed to do a cheesy sponsorship ad.

Finally, they just keep falling and falling… and things get awkward. Then they try to retcon the beautiful ending, and then Louise jumps out of the car to escape the unresolved sexual tension.

Which alternate ‘Thelma & Louise’ ending did you like the best?
