Jacob Lofland has been cast as Aris in the Maze Runner sequel The Scorch Trials.

The Hollywood Reporter revealed today that Lofland will be the newest actor to join the Scorch Trials cast.

Within the series, Aris is described as a mysterious young boy who has an interesting tie to the world of the maze. He’s similar to the other boys, and yet there are a few key differences that set him apart. It is these differences that reveal more about what Wicked has been planing from the start.

The 18-year-old actor’s most notable role so far would likely be his portrayal of Neckbone in the film Mud, where he performed opposite Matthew McConaughey and Reese Witherspoon. Other credits include the television show Justified and an independent film Little Accidents, also staring Elizabeth Banks.

Scorch Trials has made additional casting announcements earlier this week, including Aidan Gillen as Rat-Man and Rosa Salazar as Brenda.

We have also learned that filming for The Scorch Trials will be taking place in Albuquerque and other locations around the New Mexico area starting October 27.
