Hours after launching the Ilvermorny Sorting Quiz on Pottermore, Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling revealed which Ilvermorny house she was sorted into.
J.K. Rowling’s Ilvermorny house is Thunderbird! A fan had talked her into revealing her house after offering to donate money to charity (see the Twitter conversation below). According to Pottermore, “Thunderbird house is sometimes considered to represent the soul of a witch or wizard. It is also said that Thunderbird favours adventurers.”

Thunderbird appears to be the house most Harry Potter fans are being sorted in to. Hypable has been conducting a poll this morning which reveals, at the time of this writing, 40% of participants are in Thunderbird.
Ilvermorny is expected to be referenced in this November’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them starring Eddie Redmayne. We haven’t reported on this yet, but the rumor mill says a new Fantastic Beasts trailer is imminent. Perhaps the new trailer will touch on Ilvermorny, which is why Pottermore is releasing this info now.
