Star Wars: The Force Awakens is set to be action-packed, intense, and full of epic lightsaber battles. But J.J. Abrams hopes kids leave the theater in high spirits.

The Force Awakens was recently given a PG-13 rating, but we imagine lots of parents will still take their children to see this film.

Even if it gets scary at times though, it looks like The Force Awakens won’t end on a sad note — at least not if this latest message from J.J. Abrams is anything to go by.

Speaking to Comic Book Resources, Abrams says, “What I hope is that [kids] see a movie that tells them that life is full of unlimited possibility. That there’s an incredible sense of, to use a George Lucas term, hope in the world. And that they feel better when they leave than when they got in there.”

Further, Abrams wants to affirm that Star Wars: The Force Awakens is for girls as much as it is for boys.

Star Wars was always a boys thing and a movie that dads could take their sons to,” Abrams says, “and though that’s still very much the case, I was really hoping that this would be a movie that mothers could take their daughters to as well.”

When he says ‘kids,’ we’re gonna infer that he means children of all ages. So Abrams wants all of us kids to leave the theater feeling like we’re, “capable of doing things that they could never imagine possible.” Like in Tomorrowland, you know, but… better, hopefully.

‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ hits theaters THIS MONTH! It premieres December 18, 2015!
