Check out what co-creator and writer for iZombie, Diane Ruggerio, had to say about Bradley James’s character, Lowell Casey.

If you’ve been missing Bradley James just as much as we have since BBC’s Merlin ended, then you’ve no doubt been counting down the days until the actor’s rumored appearance on the CW’s iZombie comes to fruition. And, if you’re curious as to what Bradley’s upcoming role on the new Rob Thomas-helmed series will entail, then you’ll definitely want to keep reading!

Though fans have known for months that Merlin alumn, Bradley James had landed himself a role in The CW’s new dark comedy crime series, iZombie, not much has been divulged about the actor’s character, Lowell Casey. As such, we here at Hypable couldn’t resist asking iZombie writer and co-creator Diane Ruggerio if she could spill any details about James’ character when we caught up with the showrunner during the iZombie round table interviews at this year’s WonderCon.

Though Ruggerio is keeping very tight lipped on the subject, she did divulge a bit about who Lowell is to tide fans over until he makes his first appearance on the show during season 1, episode 5, “Flight of the Living Dead.”

“He’s playing a musician — so imagine taking the adorability and the hotness of [Bradley] on Merlin and then turning him into like, this rocker type and it’s just kind of like he’s a dream come true.” gushed Ruggerio.

Dreamy-ness aside, Ruggerio also went on to describe a bit of what fans can expect from Lowell’s relationship with Liv (Rose McIver).

“[Lowell] is a really good match for our Liv — he’s really someone that challenges her,” explains Ruggerio. “He’s amazing — a total creative type but really funny and ball-busty.”

From everything Ruggerio let slip, it sounds like Liv and Lowell’s relationship has all the makings for a budding romance. Either way, it definitely sounds like James has landed himself a recurring role on the crime series and we’re definitely excited to see just how his character’s storyline gets interwoven into the plot from this point out.

iZombie airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on The CW.
