iZombie season 1, episode 11, “Astroburger,” had an ending that turned a subpar episode into an absolute killer one.

He saw zombies

The episode opens as Major discovers Scott E.’s dead body in a bathtub with slit wrists. The investigation team realizes that Scott E. was killed. Questioning Major, Clive discovers that a lover named Brie was the last to see Scott.

Talking to Scott’s doctor, Liv is shocked to discover that Scott also went to the infamous Lake Washington party. Major confides in Liv that Scott thought he saw zombies at the party, filmed them, and sent the videos to a friend at a local tv station.

Ravi reveals that Scott overdosed on drugs, while asking Liv where Blaine is. Ravi comes over for takeout and a movie with Peyton, grossing Liv out. Major’s checked himself out of the mental hospital, and joins the crowd for a go of Vertigo. After running through a list of movies the group cannot watch for various mental health reasons, the cartoon devil on Liv’s spicy cheese puffs starts chortling. Yeah, it’s going to be one of those episodes.

Major gets ready to leave the house as Peyton and Ravi are getting it on, but Liv invites Major to stay the night on the couch.

Talking to Blaine, Suzuki reveals that Liv might’ve been a part of Lowell’s botched assassination. Liv watches the news, where the astronaut a high paying costumer asked Blaine for the brain of is pronounced missing. Walking in on Major changing, Liv invites him to get a better night’s rest on her bed.

At the mental hospital, Liv is shocked to realize Blaine visited Scott. Talking to Brie, Liv has to take a break when the Hellfire Devils in a vending machine won’t stop shouting at her.

Spoons and ships

At the morgue, Blaine visits a terrified Liv and Ravi. She gives him a drink, but asks her to drink it first. Liv confronts Blaine about Scott, and after he leaves, she tells Ravi that she wasn’t sure what poison would do to him, so she refrained from another murder attempt.

Later, Jonny Frost, the weatherman from the pilot, comes by to identify Scott’s body, and offers to show Liv Scott’s secret stash. With Scott’s laptop in hand, Liv stakes out a complex where his phone should be. Meanwhile, Major breaks into Scott’s apartment, only to be nearly discovered by Blaine and Julien as the two get ready to burn the complex down. Major hides in Blaine’s car trunk and gets out at the meat shop.

Back at the stakeout, Liv breaks into the house of a worker from the mental hospital, and finds Scott’s phone in a bag in the toilet. She fakes a party on the phone with a 911 operator to get a search warrant for the nurse’s apartment. Arriving back home, Liv finds her ex-fiance in bed. They spoon. We ship. You know the deal.

Livor for dinner

The next morning, Clive has the nurse in after Liv’s plan to have the toilet drugs discovered works. The nurse reveals that Dr. Larson of the mental hospital is pregnant with Scott’s baby. At Dr. Larson’s office, she is pinned to the wall for Scott’s murder when she’s threatened with a paternity test.

Cooking dinner, Liv and Major kiss. K-I-S-S. She tells Major of the zombies, finally revealing why she couldn’t date him. The two are relieved that the elephant in the room is finally revealed. Livor sails.

At the meat shop, one of the lackeys is stabbed in the neck when he looses a shipment. Ravi’s zombie rat has been cured of its zombisim, giving the doctor a template for the cure.

Trying to figure out Scott’s password, Liv comes to the shocking realization the Mr. Frost was a figment of her imagination. Finally getting into the phone, she witnesses herself eating her first brain in the Lake Washington videos. Major arrives, confirming that their kiss and her zombie reveal were also illusions. Carrying in Blaine’s brain coolers, Major vows to kill all of the criminals.
