Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston hinted that Walter White may not be dead in a new interview yesterday, and many on the internet are believing him.

Speaking with CNN on Thursday, Cranston was asked by a reporter if Walter White is dead because she wasn’t so convinced by his fall to the floor during the finale.

“Hey, you never saw bags zip up or anything,” he admitted. When asked point blank if Walter is dead, Cranston said “I don’t know” and suggested that he would “never say never” to a movie or a character reprieve.

Cranston was smiling during these particular questions which which would suggest he’s joking. Watch his full interview below:

It surprised us that so many people believe him, because the chances of Walter White being alive are logistically very, very slim. For starters, the importance of the Breaking Bad finale and the series on a whole would be washed down the drain if the character wasn’t killed at the very end of the episode.

On the other hand, Cranston could be suggesting that Walter White may appear in the Breaking Bad prequel Better Call Saul which is set to air on AMC later this year. That’s a much more likely scenario because it is reportedly set before the events of Breaking Bad.

The one problem with the character making an appearance during the spinoff is the fact that Walter and Saul didn’t begin seeing each other until the lead character needed help with his meth business. So unless Walter happens to pass Saul in the grocery store, we have a hard time imagining how an appearance on Better Call Saul would be a natural fit.

Breaking Bad’s series wrapped up last September on AMC.
