Considering that he’s one of the characters who gets some of the least amount of face time on The Walking Dead, T-Dog has become a fan-favorite. IronE Singleton shares T-Dog’s strength and importance in the midst of Rick’s leadership. Spoiler alert!

As a minor character on The Walking Dead, T-Dog played more of a supportive role in Rick’s group, always following what was best for the group. Unfortunately it wasn’t really until after T-Dog met his end that his fans started voicing their love.

IronE Singleton shared in a press conference on Monday, as reported by Rodney Ho of Access Atlanta, that he was just grateful for the experience.

“When I was first cast, I thought I’d do two, maybe three episodes. It ended up going on into a third season. How magnificent and miraculous is that? I’m so very thankful for that.”

He also appreciated that T-Dog met his end in a heroic way, sacrificing himself so Carol could safely escape the walkers (even though we’re not sure if she made it).

“I was thankful he was able to go heroically. It made feel good and really appreciated.”

T-Dog was well loved, and we were part of the millions taking to social media to scream, “No! Not T-Dog!” Singleton loves the show, and is happy to have been a part of something so incredibly successful.

“I’m totally and completely satisfied with how the show went. I think the show is a success because of the brilliant team of individuals with everyone coming together…I’m just pleased to be part of something so special.”

We couldn’t agree more. The folks over at The Walking Dead really know what they’re doing, even though we’re sad when we have to see some of our favorite characters go.

While watching the episode before his appearance on Talking Dead, Singleton said, “[It was] surreal. It was like, ‘Wow, it’s over!’ Bittersweet. I tried my best to keep all my weeping on the inside.”

We will definitely miss him. RIP T-Dog.
