While Iron Man 3 will open domestically on May 3, it’s now been announced that the film will debut with an international release in IMAX theaters in IMAX 3D on April 25. Iron Man 3’s sound and image quality will be digitally remastered to provide the essential high-quality that’s expected by audiences that have now become accustomed to IMAX quality films.
Iron Man 3 will now be the fourth Marvel film that will be taking advantage of an IMAX release. The others being 2008’s Iron Man 2, Thor, and the massive blockbuster this past year The Avengers. With the original Iron Man making $585 million worldwide in 2008 without IMAX or 3D, and its follow-up Iron Man 2 raking in $623 million – Marvel should expect to see a massive box office jump with Iron Man 3 being released in IMAX 3D (not to mention an increase due to inflated ticket prices).

Marvel’s Iron Man 3 marks the fourth Marvel Entertainment film to be presented in IMAX theatres, following the releases of Iron Man 2 in 2010, Thor in 2011 and Marvel’s The Avengers in 2012 – which all delivered record breaking performances in IMAX theatres.

Marvel studios’ president talks ‘Iron Man 3’
Marvel Studios’ president Kevin Feige recently sat down with MTV and revealed some new details about Iron Man 3 and specifically how Tony Stark will deal with his post-Avengers life. Feige always seems to be willing to give out juicy details about Marvel’s newest films and it’s nice to have someone in charge that doesn’t have that mentality of enforcing such a tight-lipped policy for the cast and crew that other studios seem to have adopted over the years.
Iron Man 3, starring Roberty Downey Jr., Don Cheadle, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Sir Ben Kingsley will hit theaters internationally in IMAX 3D on April 25 and domestically on May 3, 2013.
