Marvel’s Iron Man 3 will be available on DVD/Blu-ray Tuesday, September 24, and Hypable received an advanced copy to review its special features.

Directed by Shane Black, Iron Man 3 features Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark again to face his new villain, The Mandarin, during the aftermath of The Avengers. Tony is having quite a difficult time dealing with the anxiety that’s been caused by the realization that he can’t protect Pepper from the aliens and gods he was introduced to in the battle of New York.

Iron Man 3 had a massive box office run, pulling in $1.2 billion at the worldwide box office and received fairly solid reviews when it hit theaters back in early May. The Iron Man 3 DVD and Blu-ray will be on shelves Tuesday and we received an advance copy for review.

Iron Man 3 took some flack for how it dealt with The Mandarin’s reveal, but during a second viewing at home, this story felt a lot more personal and fulfilling. Tony Stark’s story advances more during this film than any other film since we first saw Tony in the first Iron Man in 2008.

If you’re an Iron Man fan that was dissapointed with Iron Man 3 in theaters, we definitely suggest giving it a second viewing. If you were a fan of the third film in the trilogy, it’s certainly a must have to complete your DVD/Blu-ray set.

It’s unlikely we’ll have another solo Iron Man film with Robert Downey Jr. starring as his contract only has him involved in Avengers: Age of Ultron and Avengers 3.

Iron Man 3’s special features, which include a blooper reel, are somewhat spoiled as we saw nearly all of them a few months back. If you missed those when they landed online, you’ll definitely enjoy the behind-the-scenes look at the production of the film.

Also included with the Iron Man 3 Blu-ray is Marvel’s latest short film, Agent Carter, which features actress Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter.

This is a very interesting and fun short film from Marvel, which has sparked some speculation that they may be working on creating a television series based on Hayley Atwell’s character from Captain America.

The big question remains: Should you purchase the Iron Man 3 DVD/Blu-ray? If you’re a fan of Marvel’s films, you’ll certainly enjoy having the film for home viewing.

Iron Man 3 is a solid start to Marvel’s phase two and with Thor: The Dark World hitting theaters soon, we’re expecting even more in depth stories from Marvel.

Iron Man 3’s DVD/Blu-ray hits shelves tomorrow, let us know in the comments if you plan on picking it up DVD or Blu-ray.
