Into the Badlands’ social media has awoken, and fans are excited we may finally be getting some news about the back half of season 3.

Into the Badlands season 3 got an order of 16 episodes, to be broken up by a mid-season hiatus. The last time we saw our favorite warriors was episode 8, “Leopard Catches Cloud,” which aired on June 17, 2018.

It’s been seven months, and we’ve gotten no news about when the show would return. This drove one of Hypable’s other resident ITB fans, Tai Gooden, to write about how AMC isn’t giving the show the attention it deserves.

As we’ve gotten closer and closer to the rumored release date in February or March, fans have been itching for something, anything to satiate them until the show comes back.

We were granted that gift on January 30. After being silent since November 8, 2018 (and mostly just sharing general AMC content for months before that), the Into the Badlands Twitter account got a little makeover.

They tweeted out the above video, showing the creation of their banner image. It features Sunny facing off with Pilgrim, which is exactly what we can expect from the back half of season 3, given where we left off in episode 8.

On Pilgrim’s side, Lydia battles Nix, while Bajie swings his nunchucks and Gaius charges forward. On Sunny’s side, you can easily spot Moon, as well as The Widow fighting M.K. Beneath them are Cressida and Tilda.

The account also updated their profile picture to a red butterfly. The butterfly has always been The Widow’s symbol, but it’s typically mostly or completely blue. However, in a previous teaser video for all of AMC’s returning shows, we see The Widow dressed in a bright red outfit.

Now that her role in the Badlands is changing, perhaps she felt it was time to change her look, too.

So what could all this mean? It seems obvious that Into the Badlands is gearing up for the second half of season 3 to finally hit AMC, but if you want confirmation that news is coming soon, look no further than leading man Daniel Wu’s social media:

The fact that the Into the Badlands social media accounts have been fairly quiet has caused some fans to worry about the future of the show. If they’re not promoting it during hiatus, does that mean we may not be getting a season 4?

I’d rather not jump to that conclusion without further information, so until then, I’m just going to keep my fingers crossed!
