AMC brought The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead, and Preacher to SDCC 2018, but Into the Badlands was nowhere to be seen. Now fans are clamoring for the show to be at NYCC 2018.

We’ve talked at length about the fact that AMC is not giving Into the Badlands the attention it deserves, and the most recent example of this was at San Diego Comic-Con 2018, where the network decided to bring three of its other shows to the convention and leave Badlands at home.

AMC’s lackluster marketing for Badlands is at least partially at fault for the series getting snubbed at the Emmys this year. Daniel Wu, the show’s leading actor, and several other stars working on the project had plenty to say about not being nominated for Outstanding Stunt Coordination given the time, energy, and incredible talent that goes into making Badlands look as good as it does.

Considering how much fans of the show have been upset with the network over the lukewarm marketing, it would have been nice to see Badlands show up at SDCC this year to help promote the back half of season 3.

Although we don’t know why Into the Badlands wasn’t in San Diego this year, there is a very real chance that AMC decided to throw its money behind its bigger projects — namely The Walking Dead.

And while it’s understandable that AMC may have needed to make some hard cuts when it came to bringing some of its series to Comic-Con, it’s frustrating nonetheless that the show wasn’t placed in front of a wider audience to help gauge interest and perhaps pick up some new fans.

Into the Badlands is an excellent show to bring to Comic-Con for a variety of reasons, not least because of the incredible costuming, intricate fight sequences, and detailed mythology. This is the kind of show fans want to take a deep dive into, and there’s no better place to show that love than at a place like SDCC.

Unfortunately, that didn’t happen at San Diego, but that doesn’t mean it might not happen in New York.

Fans of Into the Badlands have started a petition asking AMC to bring the show to New York Comic Con 2018. Though the fanbase is small, it’s a powerful voice on social media, and one that keeps asking the network to do more to put this series in front of new viewers. Not only would Comic-Con be the perfect venue to promote Badlands, but it would allow already established fans to potentially interact with the series’ stars and find a reason to fall in love with the show all over again.

If you’re interested in adding your voice to the group of fans clamoring to get AMC to bring Into the Badlands to New York Comic Con, you can sign the petition below.

Wu has retweeted several people who have talked about the petition on Twitter, in addition to giving his own endorsement of the movement as well.

Series stars Sherman Augustus and Nick Frost have also retweeted the petition, and as of this writing, it has nearly 400 of the 500 signatures currently being asked for. If the petition crosses that line, the end goal may be increased to further encourage fans to keep signing until AMC takes notice.

As I said above, a lot goes into the decision of bringing a property to Comic Con. It’s not only dependent on money, but also on time and a successful coordination of schedules. Either way, here’s to hoping AMC hears the cries of the fans and brings Into the Badlands to New York Comic Con 2018 to further promote the show.
