We already know the titles of the premiere episode of season 7, and the third episode which Guy Norman Bee is directing. And now, through a very insightful interview with the director, the title of episode 2 has been revealed! He also talks about what it’s like directing Supernatural, and how the gag reel is made.

The episode will be entitled ‘Hello Cruel World.’ As previously reported, episode 1 will be ‘Meet the New Boss,’ while Bee’s episode is ‘The Girl Next Door.’

Guy Norman Bee also talks about an episode he directed last year, the Western-themed ‘Frontierland.’ He reveals that one of the most iconic moments, when Jensen Ackles says “it means we’ll bring the fight to her” and puts on his cowboy hat, wasn’t in the script.

On Supernatural as a horror show, Bee discusses how he’s had to work the camera to compensate for the lack of a CGI budget:

I hadn’t done much horror so it was fun to just play with the camera. You realize horror works or it doesn’t work based on where the director puts the camera. It’s a very powerful part of it. We’re a TV show – we’re not gonna be able to CGI a bunch of scary stuff so I gotta do as much as I can with the camera. But now, all these years later, now, I like it because I’ve done more of it. It’s just always pushing to see how I can make it scarier.

Finally, he discusses gag reels! Those are always fun, and as a director, you have the power to either let them run on or cut them off. And Bee reveals that in fact, some of the gags are a bit more planned out than they appear:

Generally for me, while we’re rehearsing something funny will happen so you carry on – you shoot – and then I’ll say “go one more time, do that thing you did in the rehearsal”.
