Have you ever wanted to zoom in on a photo to get a better look? I’m sure you have, and with many apps you can do it — except for Instagram.

Snapchat aside, Instagram is one of very few apps that prevents you from zooming in on photos. It hasn’t necessarily been a problem: Come to think of it, the inability to zoom has been one of Instagram’s defining features — it’s always been comforting to know that if you post a picture, no one will be able to zoom in and see any blemishes.

Well, it’s time to download some face improvement apps (at least, I will be), because as of today the app is allowing you to zoom in on photos.

Instagram has just released an update to their iOS app which allows users to zoom in on photos and videos. When you pinch to zoom in, the photo expands to take over your entire screen. Letting go of the screen will cause the photo to revert to its normal size.

Today’s iOS update also boasts a couple improvements to Instagram Stories: While recording video you can now zoom in/out and flip the camera (just like the Snapchat feature they ripped off!).

The app is owned by Facebook, who has long offered a zoom feature in their apps.

Congratulations to Insta’ for catching up with the rest of the internet. And sorry to all of you (myself included) who’ve always designed our photos with the thought, “No one will be able to zoom in on this,” in mind.

No word yet on when the feature is coming to Android.
