Instagram has dropped their old logo — the one they’ve used since the very beginning depicting an old school camera — and have replaced it with a vibrant new design.

Instagram’s new logo employs a gradient (Hey, we did that too recently) and a simpler icon to represent the camera. The new gradient is being carried over to their suite of apps including Layout, Boomerang and Hyperlapse.

The app itself is also releasing a new design. While it appears to all function the same, the striking difference is that Instagram’s UI is now black and white. Photos, we presume, will pop more against this plainer interface.

The new Instagram update is available now, and the updated icon really pops on your home screen.
