IndieGameStand, a new website which will be offering indie games at whatever price you choose, will open for business on September 26. The website looks to follow the success of the recent Humble Indie Bundle V, a pack of eight indie games that went on sale earlier this year and generated over $5 million for developers and charities.

IndieGameStand will sell a new indie game every four days; every 96 hours a new game will be available to buy. The games will be available for purchase at whatever price you choose, relying on the honesty and integrity of gamers to pay whatever they feel each indie game is worth. This “pay what you want” strategy was at the core of what made the most recent Humble Bundle so successful and even caused friendly duels between internet celebrities to see who could donate the largest amount of money.

Every game purchased through IndieGameStand will be work on both Windows and Mac and be DRM free, meaning you can transfer it to other computers at will. Your purchases will be saved in a virtual “wallet”, making it easy to re-download games if you switch laptops. If you pay more than $1 for a game, you’ll also get a Steam key for it.

Ten percent of every transaction will go to a charity of the developer’s choice, in contrast to the Humble Bundle’s approach where consumers decided the proportion of their payment that went to charity.

Chester, a platformer from Brilliant Blue-G Games, is available to download for free from IndieGameStand until the website launches proper on September 26.

IndieGameStand already has fifty indie developers onboard including Spiderweb Software (the Exile series), Cipher Prime (AuditoriumSplice) and Zachtronics Industries (SpaceChem), according to a press release.

The recent growth in popularity of indie games is a definite forward step for the PC gaming industry, and with IndieGameStand’s launching on September 26, we see no reason why the reign of indie games should end.

You can register now over at IndieGameStand’s site, and don’t forget to pick up Chester for free whilst you’re there.
