The trailer for Netflix’s new movie In the Shadow of the Moon has got us fascinated with its creepy, genre-blending thriller vibes.

Netflix dropped the trailer for its new movie In the Shadow of the Moon, and it is definitely one you’re going to want to watch a couple of times to try and figure out what the heck is going on. Set in the 80s, the movie follows a police officer who is tracking a serial killer who mysteriously resurfaces every nine years.

However, this particular killer seems to defy all of the rules of time and basic science. Head over to YouTube to watch the In the Shadow of the Moon trailer now!

We can’t help but be excited about what this movie has in store for us. We’re loving this exciting genre mashup, and in an age where trailers often have a bad habit of giving the entire movie away, we’re loving the fact that In the Shadow of the Moon really doesn’t give us any big clues as to what is going on.

The film’s official synopsis doesn’t give much away, either.

“In 1988, Philadelphia police officer Thomas Lockhart (Boyd Holbrook), hungry to become a detective, begins tracking a serial killer who mysteriously resurfaces every nine years. But when the killer’s crimes begin to defy all scientific explanation, Locke’s obsession with finding the truth threatens to destroy his career, his family, and possibly his sanity. Directed by Jim Mickle and also starring Michael C. Hall and Cleopatra Coleman, In the Shadow of the Moon is a genre-blending psychological thriller that examines the power of time, and how its passing can either bring us together or tear us apart.”

So what really is the truth behind Coleman’s character? Chances are, the first time you saw those marks on the victim’s necks, you thought vampires were to blame. However, we can’t help but get the feeling that there is something more going on in In the Shadow of the Moon than your straightforward vampiric shenanigans.

We can’t wait to see what secrets lie in this Jim Mickle-directed flick. If you’re at Fantastic Fest this year, you can catch the movie’s premiere there, or you can wait for its Netflix premiere on September 27.
