The other day it was announced when Parts 1 and 2 of Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit would be released. Part 1’s date has caused another book-to-film adaptation’s release to move out of fear of tough competition.

Life of Pi will now be released December 21st, 2012 – one week after The Hobbit (Part 1): An Unexpected Journey opens on December 14th.

20th Century Fox obviously moved the date of Pi so as to avoid what will undoubtedly be a successful weekend for Hobbit.

The Hobbit (Part 2): There and Back Again will open December 13th, 2013.

We love the book Life of Pi and are very much looking forward to the book-to-film adaptation! It was a wise choice for 20th Century to move the release.
