If I Stay will release on August 22, 2014 in the United States.

Moretz is joined by a cast of relative newcomers, including Jamie Blackley as Adam, Mireille Enos as Kat and Liana Liberato as Kim. If I Stay is directed by RJ Cutler (Nashville), with a screenplay by Shauna Cross (Whip It). Author Gayle Forman acted as executive producer on the film, as Hypable exclusively revealed last year. The first still was recently released, featuring Moretz and Blackley.

The synopsis for the If I Stay movie adaptation reads, “On a day that started like any other, Mia (Chloe Moretz) had everything: a loving family, an adoring boyfriend, and a bright future full of music. Suddenly, a family drive on a snowy day changes everything. In an instant, almost all of that is taken from her. Caught between life and death, Mia spends one critical day contemplating a future that is now more unknowable than ever. Is love enough to keep her here? Tragic but ultimately hopeful, this is a romantic, riveting and uplifting story about music, life and love.”

If I Stay was first published in 2009. Forman released the sequel, Where She Went, in 2011.
