The If I Stay trailer proves that we have another tearjerker on our hands. Chloë Moretz and Jamie Blackley star in the newly released trailer for If I Stay, the upcoming adaptation of Gayle Forman’s novel of the same name. And even this very first look at If I Stay tells us one thing: We better be prepared for tears. Luckily the trailer also included some happy emotions – especially when we had our very first look at Moretz as Mia, Blackley as Adam, as well as Mia’s friends and parents.

If I Stay will be released on August 22, 2014 in the United States. The worldwide release dates were recently announced by Warner Brothers.

The trailer focused on Mia (Moretz) and her relationship with her boyfriend Adam (Blackley). Mia deals with the usual teenage problems, including friends, family, and love, until her entire world is destroyed in a single instant. After waking from the crash, Mia finds herself looking in on the unfolding events and unsure what to do. Then a nurse tells her that ultimately she is the one who must decide whether to stay, or to go.

This decision is only made more difficult when she overhears a doctor saying that if she wakes up, she will be an orphan, as both of her parents died in the crash. Both Adam, and Mia’s best friend Kim (Liana Liberato) sit with her in the hospital and beg her to stay, but in the end, it is up to Mia.
