Disney’s latest animated movie Frozen was nominated in two Oscar categories this morning, and the team behind the instant classic are reacting to the news.

Entertainment Weekly spoke with actress Idina Menzel who voices Elsa and performs the most popular song in the movie “Let It Go.” The song received a nomination in the Best Original Song category at the 2014 Oscars.

“This is definitely a dream come true for me,” Menzel says. “I’m happy for the movie, I’m happy to be a part of the whole thing, and to have a song that really resonates with people is just beyond.”

Asked how she felt when she first heard a demo of the song, she says, “When they wrote this particular song is when they decided she wasn’t going to be the iconic antagonist—she’s going to be complicated and vulnerable. When I heard it melodically, I was just so excited, but I knew I was in good hands and I was just happy to be along for the ride. Those guys are my friends, and it’s nice to have people that really know you and know your voice and can write with you in mind. There’s nothing better than that.”

The website also asked Menzel if she’ll be performing the song at the Oscars. “I will if they ask me, yeah! I’ll be in the middle of tech for If/Then, but hopefully we’ll tech a part that I’m not in. I’ve already got permission if they ask—cross your fingers!—that I can get out there and do my thing and just try to really have fun with the idea.”

Frozen has continued to perform strongly at the box office despite being in theaters for well over a month. The film was also nominated in the Best Animated Film category after a Golden Globe win this past Sunday.

Notably, Pixar’s Monsters University did not receive a nomination this morning, making it the second film in the studio’s history to not receive a nod. The first to be snubbed was Cars 2.
