The Vampire Diaries star Ian Somerhalder and Twilight alum Nikki Reed are engaged, according to multiple sources speaking to E!.
Their engagement comes just six months after they first started dating. It’s a whirlwind romance that’s been moving as fast as your typical vampire.
“They’re so happy,” one of the sources gushed to E!. “They were crazy happy from the start. Their families love each other. It just feels really right.”
Rumors started flying when Reed was seen sporting a big ring at a Golden Globes event over the weekend, though the ring was on the wrong hand for it to be considered an engagement band:
This’ll be Reed’s second marriage; her first was to American Idol alum Paul McDonald, who she separated from in March 2014 after two and a half years together. Their divorce became final this month. This is Somerhalder’s first time getting engaged, though he dated his Vampire Diaries co-star Nina Dobrev for a couple of years.
Besides their romantic interest in one another, the couple hold business aspirations. Somerhalder revealed during an event at the Television Critics Association this week that he and his now-fiancee are starting up a production company.
“Nikki and I are starting a production company and we’re going to be able to tell even more stories that we really want to tell, everything from documentaries to TV shows to movies…all kinds of stuff,” he said. “Having the success of a television show like [Vampire Diaries] really allows you to be able…now I get to start spreading my creative wings as well.”
Somerhalder will be getting some experience working behind the scenes thanks in part to The Vampire Diaries. As fans know by now, he’ll be directing an episode in season 6:
