Sir Ian McKellen will host a one man show this July to benefit a theater.

The iconic actor, best known to our audience for his role as Gandalf in The Lord of the Rings, will spend a week over the summer to benefit London’s Park Theatre. In his one man show titled Shakespeare, Tolkien, Others & You, he’ll reprise several of his most memorable roles, including the unforgettable wizard.

According to a press release, McKellen will “guide patrons through some of the most significant works which have helped him establish himself in both theatre and film – from Macbeth to Gandalf. The show will feature McKellen reprising some of his most iconic performances, as well as answering questions from the audience and discussing his working relationships with some of the other notable actors and directors throughout his career.”

As if that weren’t enough, lucky attendees will be able to perform with McKellen. “There will even be opportunity for audience participation for those who have always dreamed of acting with Sir Ian on stage.”

“I’m performing at Park Theatre to help raise funds for the charity,” the actor said in a statement. “In a short time the theatre has established itself on both the theatrical and local maps. But with no public subsidy for core costs they need to bring in donations of around £250,000 every year just to keep the doors open. The monies raised from the higher ticket prices for this production will support their core ambition of producing accessible theatre throughout the coming years and furthering their work with the local community. A number of £10 seats will also be available on the day. I do hope you’ll support this wonderful cause.”

Sadly, tickets are already sold out, but keep an eye on the website for additional opportunities!

We wonder if he’ll make a small appearance as Cogsworth as well? ?
